In the grand parade organized on Sunday on the 76th Republic Day of India, a glimpse of the country’s military might as well as cultural diversity, success of government schemes and women empowerment was seen on the line of duty.
President Draupadi Murmu and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who was the chief guest, left the place of duty in a traditional carriage and with this the parade formally ended.
Apart from Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Modi and his cabinet colleagues and other dignitaries from India and abroad attended the ceremony.
For the parade ceremony, Murmu and Subianto reached the duty path riding in a traditional buggy. This tradition was restarted in 2024 after a gap of 40 years.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is the chief guest at this year’s Republic Day celebrations. With this, he became included in the list of select world leaders who have graced the country’s biggest event in the last seven decades.
Subianto is the fourth President of Indonesia to attend the Republic Day celebrations. Sukarno, the first President of Indonesia, was the chief guest at India’s first Republic Day celebrations in 1950.
