New Delhi. The Mumbai Police on Monday arrested a woman in the case of attack on actor Saif Ali Khan by conducting a search operation in Nadia district of West Bengal. According to police sources, it has been revealed that the SIM card used in the attack was registered in the name of the woman. A two -member team of Mumbai Police reached West Bengal on Sunday and arrested the woman from Chhapra area of Nadia district with the help of local police. A police officer informed that transit remand will be applied to take the woman to Mumbai.
Connection of woman and attacker
The arrested woman has been identified as Khukhumoni Jahangir Sheikh, who is said to be familiar with the already arrested Bangladeshi citizen Shariful Fakir. According to police sources, Fakir illegally entered India from Siliguri near the Indo-Bangladesh border and came in contact with the woman. The woman hails from Andulia in Murshidabad district of West Bengal.
Saif Ali Khan was attacked with a knife
Saif Ali Khan was attacked with a knife on 16 January at his house in Bandra, Mumbai. The attacker attacked Saif six times, seriously injured. He was immediately admitted to Lilavati Hospital, where he was treated. Saif was discharged from the hospital on 21 January.
