Dera Sacha Sauda chief and rape convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was released from Rohtak in Haryana on Tuesday after receiving 30 days parole.
Ram Rahim has been given parole at a time when voting for the assembly elections in Delhi is to be held on February 5.
Sources said that 57 -year -old Ram Rahim left for Rohtak’s Sunaria jail and left for the dera headquarters in Sirsa, Haryana.
Ram Rahim is serving 20 years imprisonment in the case of raping two of his disciples in 2017. This is the first time since he was sentenced to jail that Ram Rahim has gone to the Dera headquarters in Sirsa. Earlier, he lived at the Dera Ashram in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh during parole.
A lawyer of the Dera chief said that Ram Rahim has been given a 30 -day parole and he will probably be in the ashram in Sirsa for 10 days and the rest of the day in the ashram in Baghpat.
After reaching the dera headquarters in Sirsa, Ram Rahim released a video message for his supporters, in which he asked him not to come to the camp.
A police officer from Sirsa confirmed Ram Rahim’s arrival at the dera.
Dera Sacha Sauda is headquartered in Sirsa. It has a large number of supporters in Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and other states.
Earlier, Ram Rahim was given 20 days parole on October 1 last year. Even then parole was given at a time when assembly elections were going to be held in Haryana on October 5.
It is worth noting that even in the past, Ram Rahim was given some furrows and parole around elections in Punjab, Haryana and neighboring states. He was given a furrow of three weeks from February 7, 2022, about two weeks before the Punjab assembly elections.
Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has criticized this relief to Ram Rahim.
In May, the High Court here acquitted Ram Rahim and four others, citing “defective and vague” investigation in the murder of former dera manager Ranjit Singh in 2002.
