Officials managing Mahakumbh issued a detailed advisory for Mauni Amavasya “Amrit Snan” on Wednesday, urging devotees to follow the safety protocol and cooperate with the officials. He said that millions of pilgrims are expected to participate, so extensive arrangements have been made to ensure an easy and safe experience for all attendees.
According to an official statement, the fair administration and police have strengthened security and mob management measures. To provide help in any emergency, dedicated teams, including fair police, traffic officers and specialist doctors, will be on duty round the clock. Senior Superintendent of Police of Mahakumbh Nagar, Rajesh Dwivedi emphasized the importance of support of the public.
He said, “Strong arrangements have been made for the second nectar bath of Mahakumbh, especially Mauni Amavasya. We urge the devotees to cooperate with the police, be vigilant and ask for help if needed.” The officials have urged the devotees to follow the mob management guidelines for their safety and convenience.
The pilgrims have been advised to use the prescribed lane to reach the Sangam Ghat, stay in their lane while reaching the bathing area and avoid staying on the ghats for a long time after taking a holy bath. They have also been encouraged to exit immediately to parking areas or their destinations to maintain the flow of movement.
The statement said that in addition, visitors should be patient on barricades and pontoon bridges, avoid haste or pushing, which can lead to accidents. Health and environmental concerns have also been given priority in advice. Devotees facing any health problems are encouraged to go to the sector hospitals established in the area.
The use of environmentally friendly materials, such as paper, jute or earthen utensils, is recommended, while plastic bags and utensils are clearly discouraged. The administration has reminded the devotees that all the ghats of the Sangam are equally sacred, urged them to take a bath at the first ghat to avoid congestion. Many prohibited works have also been underlined in advice.
Pilgrims have been advised not to stay in large groups, especially on roads, and avoid obstructing the movement of others. Officials have warned against believing or spreading rumors, especially on social media, and not people not to visit temples or bath sites.
According to the statement, devotees have been reminded of respecting mob-control systems and ignoring misleading information about arrangements and facilities. Mouni Amavasya is one of the special bath dates at the Triveni Sangam and is considered auspicious based on the alignment of astronomical bodies. On this day, the largest number of devotees visit the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. Mahakumbh started from 13 January and will run till 26 February.
