The bodies of four devotees killed in a stampede at the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, will be brought from Delhi to Belagavi on Thursday evening. The officers provided this information.
Officials said the deceased have been identified as Jyoti Deepak Hatarwath (44), his daughter Megha Deepak Hatarwath (24), Arun Khoparde (61) and Mahadevi Hemant Bhavnur (48).
Karnataka Revenue Minister Krishna Bayere Gowda said in a statement that IPS (Indian Police Service) officer Hariram Shankar is coordinating in bringing four bodies from Kumbh Mela. These bodies are being sent to Delhi in two ambulances. Special Deputy Commissioners are also reaching Delhi from Belagavi.
He said, “Both officers will bring the bodies here from the aircraft. They will ensure that the bodies are brought to Belagavi this evening. ”
He said that four members of the families of the Karnataka government and the families of the deceased will leave for the Kartaka with a dead body from IndiGo flight at 3.20 pm.
The minister said that there is no information about anyone else being injured or hospitalization so far. However, Harshal Boyar (IAS), the Nodal Officer of the Government of Karnataka, has been asked to take all necessary steps to find out whether another person from the state has been injured in the incident and whether he was admitted to a hospital.
On the occasion of Mauni Amavasya, 30 people were killed and 60 others were injured in a stampede due to a large number of pilgrims arrived in the confluence area of Prayagraj Mahakumbh late on Tuesday night.
