Do you know that in which country is the world’s highest rail bridge and the world’s highest arch bridge? Many people of the country will not know the answer to this question. But you will be happy to know that this bridge is built in India, named Chenab Rail Bridge. The amazing structure and engineering talent of this bridge can make anyone crazy. Let us look at the attractive facts of this grand bridge built on the soil of Jammu and Kashmir.

Inauguration of Chenab rail bridge
Indian Railways, one of its ambitious projects, started work on Chenab Rail Bridge in early August 2004. The project was declared a national project. This included the construction of a new railway line from Udhampur city to Baramulla district of Jammu. It included several tunnels and bridges. The project ended with the construction of a new steel arch bridge over the deep ditch of the Chenab River. It was a historical project, which was converted into reality by Indian Railways.
Fierce earthquakes can face
The area in which the Chenab bridge is constructed is tactonically active and geologically complex. This area always faces seismic threat, many earthquakes have occurred here. IIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee and IISC Bangalore have analyzed the area’s seismic threat in detail. This bridge has been constructed accordingly. The bridge can withstand earthquakes up to 8 on the Richter scale, high -intensity explosions and 260 kmph winds. After knowing these facts, the importance of Chenab bridge increases manifold.
The bridge is also higher than the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
The height of this bridge on the Chenab River is 359 meters, which makes it the world’s highest railway bridge and the highest Arch bridge. Interestingly, the bridge is higher than the Eiffel Tower of Paris, which has a height of 330 meters. Chenab Rail Bridge is a significant contact on the 111 km long section between Katra and Banihal, which is part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla section of the Kashmir railway project.
Great design of arches bridge
The base support of this bridge was fulfilled in November 2017, after which the construction work of Man Arch started. In April 2021, the arch of Chenab Rail Bridge was completed and the construction of the entire bridge will be completed in August 2022. The design of the Chenab rail bridge is like a large spread steel bridge with a large spreading steel bridge on both sides. This arches is two striped and large steel trusses have been used to make it.
