Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said on Monday that Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh should have resigned long ago. The Congress leader told reporters that violence has been going on in that northeast state for two years.
He said, “It was pending for a long time, for two years.”
The Congress leader said this to reporters when asked about Biren Singh’s resignation.
Biren Singh submitted his resignation to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan in Imphal on Sunday. More than 250 people have been killed and thousands of people have become homeless since ethnic violence erupted in May 2023 in Manipur.
Priyanka Gandhi, a Lok Sabha member from Wayanad, participated in several programs in her parliamentary constituency in the last two days. She will visit the house of people who lost their lives in wild animals attack in her parliamentary constituency before leaving for New Delhi on Monday.
