Professor KK Aggarwal, President of South Asian University, emphasized the recognition of librarians and their important role in society. He advocated digitization as a complement to traditional libraries and called for internal education for the creation of global citizens.
The three -day Global Library Summit (GLS) 2025 The theme of the three -day global summit was “Library Diplomacy: United Nations through Library Cooperation” which was organized in collaboration with SAU and LIS Academy Bangalore. It was organized on the initiative of Professor KK Aggarwal. During the summit, Prof. K.K. Aggarwal was awarded the “Life Time Achievement Award” by LIS Academy Bengaluru for his unprecedented contribution in the field of higher education, research and innovation. He also inaugurated the conference souvenir for GLS 2025.
More than 200 representatives, 16 international speakers, and more than 130 research papers were presented at this summit. The program was attended by special speakers and scholars from the country of library and information science from the country and abroad. In the inaugural session, Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabuddhe, NETF, NAAC, and NBA President, were present as the chief guests.
The summit was chaired by Prof. KK Aggarwal, President of South Asian University. Other notable speakers are Prof. Pankaj Jain, Vice President of South Asian University (Educational); Dr. AP Singh, Director General of National Library; Akash Patil, Director of DAIC; Prof. Devika Madalli, Director of Influence; Prof. P.V. President of Konnur, LIS Academy; And Dr. PR Goswami, Director of GLS, Dr. Dhananjay, Senior Associate Professor, SAU.
In the inaugural speech, Prof. Anil Sahasrabuddhe emphasized the important role of libraries that serve as Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), integration of technology, and store of knowledge. He also underlined the multi-dimensional role of libraries that promote global cooperation. Prof. Sahasrabuddhe also launched “Book of Abstracts” for GLS 2025.
Pro. Devika Madalli in her main speech spoke on the “One Nation, One Subscription” (ONOS) initiative, which underlines the possibility that promotes equality, international cooperation, and cultural diplomacy. Dr. A.P. Singh and Mr. Akash Patil emphasized the need for libraries that work especially in rural areas, especially in rural areas to brid down gaps and face challenges.
Pro. P.V. Konur outlined the role of GLS that brings library professionals and associations together for cooperation and support. In addition, Dr. Goswami explained how GLS can be effective for easy power projection and library diplomacy.
The pre-convention of a groundbreaking book was also seen at the summit, titled “Maping Feminist International Relations in South Asia: Past and Present” which was Dr. Shweta Singh (South Asian University) and Dr. Amina Mohsin (Dhaka University) Has been edited. And two other important publications: “Tune Your Brain” by Dr. Lata Suresh and “I the DAT DISRES” Prof. A poem book was also inaugurated by Jagtar Singh.
