History News Desk !!! Sir Sundar Lal (English: Sir Sunder Lal, born- May 21, 1857, Nainital, Uttaranchal; death- 13 February, 1918, Allahabad) was a famous jurist and public activist. He considered industrialization and education spread necessary for the development of the country.
Introduction
Sir Sundar Lal was born on May 21, 1857 AD at a place called Jaspur in Nainital district of Uttaranchal. His civil Brahmin family came from Gujarat and settled here. He first passed the examination of advocacy and then started practicing after graduating from Kolkata University. On the strength of his talent, he soon achieved great success in this area. The government gave him the title of ‘Sir’.[1]
High position
Sir Sundar Lal held high positions. He was a judicial commissioner of Awadh and judges of the Allahabad High Court. Three times he became Allahabad University and in 1916 became the first Vice Chancellor of Kashi Hindu University. He was a great assistant to Malaviya ji in the establishment of this university.
Ethics
Sundar Lal’s thoughts used to meet Gopal Krishna Gokhale in this regard. Sir Sundar Lal, who has loyalty in Hindu ethics, was supporters of the country’s freedom in constitutional ways. He considered industrialization necessary for the prosperity of the country and considered education as a means of progress. Sir Sundar Lal had a relationship with the Congress since the time of its establishment. Motilal Nehru, Malaviya ji, Annie Besant etc. were his friends and colleagues. The Allahabad session of the Congress was the same chairman of the 1910 welcome committee.
Death
Famous jurist and public activist Sir Sundar Lal died on 13 February 1918 in Allahabad.
