New Delhi: Today may be a ruckus in Parliament. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present a new income tax bill in the Lok Sabha today. This bill has been approved by the Union Cabinet. At the same time, the report of JPC set up on the Waqf Amendment Bill will also be placed on the table of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. According to the Lok Sabha proceedings list, the chairman of the committee Jagdambika Pal will keep the reports related to the Bill and the records of the evidence on the floor of the House. This report will also be placed on the table of Rajya Sabha.

Today is the last day of the first phase of the budget session

Let us know that today is the last working day of the first phase of the current budget session of Parliament. JPC’s report on the Waqf Amendment Bill was submitted to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on January 30. The committee’s 655 -page report was accepted by a majority, which contains suggestions made by members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Opposition members had termed it unconstitutional and alleged that the step would ruin the Waqf boards.

44 proposal to amend the provisions

BJP members had emphasized that the bill introduced in the Lok Sabha in August last year would try to bring modernity, transparency and accountability in the management of Waqf properties. The committee accepted all the amendments proposed by the BJP members and rejected the amendments of the opposition members. Opposition members in the committee proposed amendment in all the 44 provisions of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill and claimed that the “oppressive” character of the law bill proposed by the committee would retain the character and intervention in religious matters of Muslims Will try to do it.

Was sent to JPC on August 8, 2024

The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024 was sent to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on August 8, 2024 after the Union Minorities Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju was introduced in the Lok Sabha. The Bill aims to amend the Waqf Act, 1995 to resolve issues and challenges related to regulating and managing Waqf properties.
