Shah asked the Maharashtra government to implement new criminal law in Police Commissionerate

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday asked the Maharashtra government to implement three new criminal laws in all the police commissioners of the state as soon as possible. Presiding over the review meeting on his implementation in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Shah also said that the Maharashtra government should establish a model of the Directorate of Prosecution as per these criminal laws.

The Indian Code, Indian Civil Protection Code and Indian Evidence Act replaced the Indian Penal Code of the colonial era, the Criminal Procedure Code and the Indian Evidence Act of 1872 respectively. The new laws came into effect from 1 July last year.

Shah said, “The Maharashtra government should implement new criminal laws as soon as possible in all the commissioners of the state.” The meeting reviewed the implementation of various new provisions related to police, jail, courts, prosecution and forensic in the state.

Shah said that the Chief Minister should review the implementation of new criminal laws in the state, while the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police should conduct a weekly review. He said that the Narendra Modi government is committed to providing quick and transparent justice system to the countrymen and registration of crimes is necessary to strengthen law and order, so there should be no delay in filing FIR.

He insisted that efforts should be made to achieve more than 90 percent sentence in cases with more than seven years and to ensure that the police, government lawyers and judiciary should work together that the culprits should work as soon as possible. Get punishment. Shah said that senior police officers should regular monitoring of organized crime, terrorism and murder cases by mob to prevent misuse of sections related to these crimes.

He said that there should be a system to register evidence through video conferencing in jails, government hospitals, banks, forensic science laboratories (FSL) etc. The Home Minister said that a system should be implemented in which FIR can be transferred between two states through Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS). He recommended that Maharashtra should adopt CCTNS 2.0 and inter-operated criminal justice system 2.0 (ICJS).

Shah said that the police should give information about the persons detained for questioning on the electronic dashboard. He emphasized the need to improve internet connectivity in police stations and said that the availability of forensic science mobile van in every police sub-division should be ensured. The Home Minister demanded the recruitment of forensic experts and urged to fill the vacant posts in the forensic department soon.

He said that the Maharashtra government should integrate the state’s fingerprint identity system with the National Automatic Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS). Shah also said that the police should set up a system to return the property recovered from the criminals to its real owner as per the provisions of new criminal laws. He emphasized the importance of making police stations more beautiful. The meeting was attended by top officials of the central and state governments.
