Dhaka: Police have arrested 41 former officials in Bangladesh. Former officials are among 1,059 former policemen accused of atrocities during the agitation of the students. Information about this has been given in media reports on Monday. Due to this movement, the deployed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government had fallen and had to leave the country.

How many people died

The anti -discrimination demonstration of students against the reservation system took the form of an agitation and excluded Hasina’s government from power. About 1,400 people lost their lives during the protests between July and August last year.

Hundreds of cases have been registered

The newspaper ‘Pratham Alo’ quoted the anonymous officers of the police headquarters as saying that the survivors of the atrocities or family members of those killed, accused 1,059 officers of the Chief Law Enforcement Agency, filed hundreds of cases in police stations and courts. Are. The police have arrested 41 former officials so far.

Police headquarters said that among the people arrested so far, two former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chaudhary Abdullah Al Munun and AKEN Shahid-ul-Haq and former Police Commissioner of Dhaka and Dhaka and Southeast Port City Chattogram-Mohammad Asad-uj-Zaman and Mian Saif-ul-Islam is included. Apart from Haq, these officers were serving till Hasina left the country.

Some officers left the country

Maximum 174 cases have been registered against the former Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police against Fugitive-ur-Aur-Rashid. Arrested former IGP Al Mamoon has 159 cases registered. Officials said that many senior officials, including additional police chief and a police commissioner, are absconding, while some of them are believed to have left the country. (Language)
