New Delhi. The Economic Offenses Branch of Mumbai Police (EOW) has arrested Abhimanyu Bhoan, former CEO of New India Co-operative Bank. Abhimanyu has been arrested for not cooperating in the investigation of the bank scam. He was working at the New India Co-operative Bank from 2019 to 2024. The Economic Offenses Branch of the Mumbai Police had been questioning the former CEO of the bank for two days, Bhoan failed to give satisfactory answers to the police questions, after which he was arrested.

The case of scam of Rs 122 crore has been exposed in New India Co-operative Bank. The Reserve Bank has currently banned the work of New India Co-operative Bank for 6 months after financial irregularities are exposed. Some people have been arrested earlier in the scam case. An FIR has also been lodged against the bank’s former general manager Hitesh Praveenchand Mehta for embezzlement of Rs 122 crore. While holding the post of general manager of the bank, Hitesh used to handle the responsibility of Dadar Dadar and Goregaon branch of Mumbai. According to the complaint lodged with the police, this scam in the bank has been done between 2020 and 2025.
On the other hand, the bank’s metal is getting upset to withdraw their deposits. Let us tell you that the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC) insures the account holders up to Rs 5 lakh. If the bank sinks, the holders will get back up to 5 lakhs. Earlier, information has also been revealed that out of 1.3 lakh account holders of this bank, there are more than 90 percent account holders who have deposits up to five lakh rupees in accounts.
