Spending hours on digital screen can increase the risk of proximal vision defect: Research

New Delhi, 23 February (IANS). There is another warning for those spending hours on the digital screen. According to a new study, spending even an hour on a tablet or smartphone can increase the risk of myopia or adjacent vision.

According to a study published at the JAMA Network Open, in systematic reviews and dose-sispons meta-analysis, a day-to-day increase of 1 hour in digital screen time was associated with 21 percent more likely to Myopia (near vision defect).

The Dose-Rispons pattern displayed the sigmoidal shape, showing that there is no threat when there is no threat to lusting for less than 1 hour daily. However, the danger increases when the contact increases by 4 hours. “

Researchers said, “These findings can provide doctors and researchers guidance regarding the risk of Myopia.”

Increasing use of digital screen has increased cases of adjacent vision defects.

The team reviewed the data obtained from 45 investigations, with a relationship between screen time and near vision defects in over 335,000 participants from children to young adults.

Researchers said that spending time on the screen for 1-4 hours increases the risk and then increases gradually.

However, no connection was found by staying in contact for less than 1 hour, which suggests a possible security limit. Authors say that these conclusions can provide guidance to doctors dealing with “Myopia epidemic”.

Recently, experts in India talked that technology and mobiles such as gadgets, students, parents and teachers have become a major problem at the time of examination. Watching the screen for a long time affects the mind’s thinking and understanding power. This is because attention is reduced and often people are sitting wrongly on the bed or couch while looking at the screen for a long time.

This can lead to various health related problems, including obesity, body pain, spinal problems and back pain.
