New Delhi: Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and the Indian Navy took a major step on 25 February 2025. He successfully tested his first naval anti-Ship missile (NASM-SR) from the testing area of ​​Chandipur. The test showed that the missile was launched by the Indian Navy’s seaking helicopter and it could accurately target vessels located in the sea. The missile also had a ‘man-in-loop’ feature, which means that the pilot could control it during testing.

Missile accurately pierced the target in testing

In testing, the missile accurately targeted the target of a small ship with its maximum limit. The missile uses a special imaging infrared Sikar, allowing her to take pictures of the target and send the pilot back. In addition, this testing also showed that the missile has a strong two-way data link system, which helps the pilot to renew the missile during the flight. Initially, the missile locked a large target, but later the pilot chose a small target, which was hit by the missile accurately.

Use of many indigenous techniques in missiles

Many indigenous techniques have been used in this missile, such as fiber optic ziroscopa-based INS, radio ultermer, and a avionics module, which controls its direction and height. In addition, it also includes electro-mechanical actuators, thermal batteries and PCB warheads, which make it more effective. The missile uses solid propulsion, with an in-line ejectable booster and long-burn sustainer. All the tests were successful and the missile met all the mission objectives set.

Many labs and companies are engaged in building missiles

This missile has been developed by DRDO’s various labs such as research centers building, defense research and development laboratory, high energy material research laboratory, and terminal ballistics research laboratory. The help of MSME, Start-ups and other industry partners is also being taken in its construction. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, Indian Navy and Industries for this successful test. DRDO President Dr. Sameer V. Kamat also congratulated the entire team and industry partners for this success.
