Famous actor dies
Veteran Oriya actor Uttam Mohanty died during treatment at Medant Hospital in Gurugram on the evening of 27 February. He was 66 years old. Mohanty’s nephew confirmed his death from the hospital. Mohanty recently went to shoot for a film. Then his health deteriorated, after which he was immediately admitted to a private hospital. After treatment, he returned home, but a few days ago his health started deteriorating and he was admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. Uttam Mohanty, who started her career with the Oriya film ‘Abhimaan’ in 1977, has worked in more than 150 films including ‘Nizhum Ratira Saathi’ (1979), ‘Phool Chandana’ (1982), ‘Jhiyati Sita Pari’ (1983) and ‘Danda Balunga’ (1984). He has also acted in some TV serials including ‘Sara Akash’. During this, Uttam Mohanty has also shown his acting in 30 Bengali films and a Hindi film ‘Naya Poison’. Mohanty’s wife Aparajita and son Babushan are also famous stars of the Oriya film industry.
