13 police officers murdered in Syria.
Damascus (Syria): The bloody battle in Syria has intensified again. In the city of Jableh, gunmen ambushed the Syrian police patrol team on Thursday, killing at least 13 security personnel and injured several others. A local official gave this information. The attack took place at a time when tension between people of the minority Alavi community of former President Bashar al -Assad and Islamic organizations in Syria’s Jableh region.
Let us tell you that in early December, the rebellious groups under the leadership of Islamist Hayat Tahrir al-Sham had counted the Assad rule. Britain’s human rights organization ‘Syrian Observatory for Human Rights’ reported that at least 16 people were killed in an ambush attack in Jableh city near Latakia city. Rami Abdurrahman, head of the monitoring group, said that the police force was attacked by the people of Alavi community. Abdurrahman said, “These have been the most violent clashes since the fall of the rule.” A local officer in Damascus, on the condition of anonymity to the ‘Associated Press’ (AP), told that 13 members of the ‘General Security Directorate’ were killed in an ambush attack.
Al-Jazeera journalist also injured in attack
Television channel ‘Al-Jazeera’, a television channel aired in Arabia, said his cameraman Riyadh Al-Husain was injured while covering the struggle. Government media said that the officials have imposed a 12 -hour curfew in the nearby city of Tartus. Government news agency ‘Sana’ said that a large number of additional force is being sent to the area to bring the situation under control. Local media quoted security officer Sajid al-Dee as saying that the situation is under control. He said that people of Alavi community have nothing to do with gunmen who attacked security forces on Thursday. Al-Dee said, “We call on to avoid promoting communal sentiments.” (Language)
