New Delhi, March 9 (IANS). The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting announced on Sunday that the upcoming World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (Waves) would serve as a major platform to connect Indian creators and technologists with global industry leaders.
The first edition of Waves is going to be held in Mumbai between May 1 and May 4.
According to the government, Waves will bring media and entertainment industry professionals together to show the Indian talent.
The program will be focused on four major areas, including broadcasting and infotainment, AVGC-XR (animation, visual effects, gaming, comics and extended reality), digital media and innovation and films.
The program aims to create new opportunities through partnership between Indian and international industry leaders.
A major attraction of Waves is an animation filmmakers competition, which has been started in partnership with major animation company dancing atoms. This initiative has been initiated to discover and promote India’s best story telling talent in the field of animation.
This competition is open to students and professionals. These participants have to present a logline, a two -page summary of the concept of their film and a poster.
The selected participants will get an opportunity to participate in the mentarship sessions and masterclass organized by the industry leaders.
The final winners will be announced in April 2025, with prizes and global exposure to the winners.
Films can be in any language, to accommodate the international panel of the jury, the submission form has to be filled in English.
Entries have been received from all over the country and abroad in the competition, which reflect the increasing interest in animation.
The selected participants will now undergo an intensive mentorship program, where industry experts will help them out of masterclass to bring out their views.
Entries are being evaluated on the basis of originality, entertainment price, market appeal, participation of the audience and presentation.
The winners will get the opportunity to present their projects to the industry leaders and compete for exciting awards.
The competition received tremendous response and 1,290 participants have submitted their entries, 19 from other countries.
