Atishi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, accused the Bharatiya Janata Party government on Wednesday and said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi failed to fulfill the promises made to the women of Delhi including assistance of Rs 2,500 and free LPG cylinders.
Talking to news agency ANI, former CM Atishi said, “BJP and PM Modi had made many promises to the people of Delhi. The promise of Rs 2500 came out. The women of Delhi were to get free cylinders during Holi. Holi has only 2 days left and the women of Delhi are waiting for free cylinders. Women are protesting against BJP and their false promises in different parts of Delhi.”
Explain that in its party manifesto for the Delhi Assembly elections, the BJP promised to provide financial assistance of Rs 2,500 to the women of Delhi every month under the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana.
The party also promised to help women from low -income families by giving LPG cylinders for Rs 500. Apart from this, the party also promised to give one cylinder free on the occasions of Holi and Diwali.
On March 8, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the BJP -led government in the national capital will fulfill all its promises. Addressing a program on the occasion of International Women’s Day, the CM of Delhi said that she will work for the welfare and security of women.
CM Gupta had said, “The only government is the government of Narendra Modi to approve 33 percent reservation. We will work for the welfare and security of women. Whatever we have made, we will fulfill it. We will work to increase the safety of women. We have built toilets in Delhi”
Aam Aadmi Party MLA Gopal Rai, criticizing the BJP government of Delhi, has accused him of playing a game of ‘blame-in-law’ for avoiding fulfilling election promises.
