During Holi and Ramadan in Bihar, a new controversy has arisen over Friday prayers, when the mayor of Darbhanga city has advocated a “two -hour break” in the celebration of Holi, a festival of colors to offer Muslim prayers.
The proposal was recently kept by Anjum Ara at a meeting of the peace committee in this city of North Bihar.
Talking to reporters later, he said, “I argued that the time of ‘Jumma Namaz’ cannot be deferred. Therefore, there should be a two -hour holiday from 12 noon to 2 pm, during which Hindu should avoid visiting places around mosques.”
The mayor said, “This will allow people of both religions to follow their respective traditions without any hassle. We understand that Holi comes only once a year. But we also have to keep in mind that it is a sacred month of Ramadan for Muslims.”
His comment was expressed on his comment, BJP MLA Hari Bhushan Thakur Bachaul of neighboring district Madhubani, who was recently in discussion to tell Muslims that if he had any problem with Holi, he “stay inside the house”.
Talking to reporters in the state assembly premises, he said, “Where are the self-proclaimed secularists who were attacking me? The Mayor of Darbhanga has really called for ‘Gajwa-e-Hind’ to convert India into Islamic Khilafat.”
He also warned of retaliation against those who first divided the country and are now infiltrating the social life of Hindus.
He also demanded an inquiry into the suspicious records of Ara and his family, which is said to be a supporter of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who is an ally of BJP.
However, senior JD (U) leader and minister Shravan Kumar said, “The administration should not tell people when and how they have to celebrate a festival. This decision should be left to the society and the administration should always focus on maintaining the rule of law.”
He also rejected Bachhaul’s remarks, saying, “Elected representatives should never use a language that hurts a section of society.”
RJD MLA Bhai Virendra, whose party is considered the first choice of Muslims in Bihar, believes that the mayor of Darbhanga has responded to the strategy of polarization of people like Bachaul, which is bent on destroying ‘Ganga Jamuni Tehzeeb’. “
