Jammu. A woman has been arrested at the famous religious place of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi temple in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir. She reached Mata Vaishno Devi temple with a pistol. The arrested woman’s name is Jyoti Gupta. It is being told that Jyoti Gupta works in Delhi Police. According to SSP Parminder Singh of Reasi, a pistol was recovered with Jyoti Gupta during the investigation of devotees. The license of this pistol was sought from Jyoti. Jyoti Gupta, who talked about being an employee in Delhi Police, showed the license of the pistol when he was asked for, but he had expired.

According to SSP Parminder Singh, on the intervening night of 14 and 15 March 2025, Jyoti Gupta reached the building of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi temple with a pistol. Jyoti Gupta has been arrested by Riyasi police due to the pistol’s license expired. A case has been registered against Jyoti Gupta in the Arms Act against Jyoti Gupta at the police station located in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi temple complex. Right now it is being investigated as to why Jyoti Gupta reached the temple complex of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi with a pistol. The Reasi police is also investigating why Jyoti Gupta did not know that the license of the pistol had expired.
A large number of devotees from all over the country and abroad come to see Mata Vaishno Devi. Mata Vaishno Devi temple is also threatened by terrorists. For this reason, the devotees who come there are strictly checked. Like other religious places, there is a ban on carrying any kind of weapon in Mata Vaishno Devi temple.
