Organizations postponed the strike after receiving positive assurances on their demands from the Finance Ministry and IBA (Indian Banks’ Association on Friday. Let us tell that, according to the already decided schedule, the organizations announced a two -day nationwide strike in banks across the country on Monday and Tuesday. The strike was called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), an organization of 9 bank employees unions, on 24 and 25 March.

The major demands of bank employee organizations include two days of leave every week and adequate recruitment in all employee cadres. The decision to postpone the proposed strike has been taken before the Chief Labor Commissioner, who called all the parties for a reconciliation meeting. Representatives of Indian Banks Union and Finance Ministry assured to consider the demands of employee organizations. UFBU also demanded immediate withdrawal of recent instructions from the Department of Financial Services (DFS) on the review of the performance of the employees and the incentive related to it (PLI). Employees organization says that this instruction threatens the security of the employees’ job and creates a division among the employees.
