Akhilesh Yadav and his wife Dimple Yadav
SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and his wife Dimple Yadav are the most discussed among the political couples, as both are members of the 18th Lok Sabha. Akhilesh Yadav has been elected MP from Kannauj and Dimple Yadav from Mainpuri seat. With this, Akhilesh Yadav and Dimple Yadav became the first couple to reach Parliament together from Uttar Pradesh. Akhilesh and Dimple had become members of the 17th Lok Sabha earlier as well, but both reached Parliament at different times. After winning the assembly elections in 2022, Akhilesh Yadav resigned as an MP and Dimple Yadav became an MP from Mainpuri in the by -election after Mulayam Singh’s death. Earlier, the 2019 elections were also contested by both, but Akhilesh won from Azamgarh, while Dimple lost to Kannauj to Subrata Pathak of BJP.
Pappu Yadav and Ranjita Ranjan Yadav
Pappu Yadav and Ranjita Ranjan are famous names in Bihar politics. The love life of Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav has been very popular. Pappu Yadav has done a love marriage. Pappu Yadav won the 18th Lok Sabha as an independent MP from Purnia in Bihar, while his wife Ranjita Ranjan is currently a Rajya Sabha MP from Chhattisgarh. However, Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav and Ranjita Ranjan have also been members of the Lok Sabha together. The pair is special in this case because they reached the same house twice and won elections from different parties both times. In 2004, Pappu Yadav won the by -election on RJD ticket from Madhepura seat in Bihar. Whereas, his wife Ranjita Ranjan reached the Lok Sabha after winning the election from Saharsa on LJP ticket. After this, in 2014, the husband and wife pair once again reached Lok Sabha together and this time also both became MPs from different parties. Pappu Yadav was elected MP from Madhepura on RJD ticket and Ranjita Ranjan reached Lok Sabha from Supaul on Congress ticket.
Chaudhary Charan Singh and Gayatri Devi
The name of former Prime Minister of India Chaudhary Charan Singh and his wife Gayatri Devi is also included in the list of political couples. Former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh won the Lok Sabha elections thrice. In 1980, he won the election from Baghpat Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, his wife Gayatri Devi also reached the Lok Sabha after winning the election from Kairana seat. Both husband and wife were members of the same house during the seventh Lok Sabha from 1980 to 1984.
Madhu Dandavate and Pramila Dandavate
The list also includes Professor Madhu Dandavate and his wife Pramila Dandavate, who come from a Marathi family. Professor Madhu Dandavate was the Railway Minister and Finance Minister of India. He was elected a member of the Lok Sabha five times from 1971 to 1991. In the 1980 Lok Sabha elections, he was elected MP from Rajapur Lok Sabha constituency on a Janata Party ticket from Maharashtra. At the same time, his wife Pramila Dandavate Bombay reached the Lok Sabha from North Central seat and won the election on a Janata Party ticket.
Satyendra Narayan Sinha and Kishori Sinha
Satyendra Narayan Sinha, who belongs to the royal family of Aurangabad in Bihar, and his wife Kishori Sinha won the Lok Sabha elections twice and reached Parliament. Satyendra Narayan Sinha was from a royal family in Aurangabad district of Bihar. He was also known as Chhoti Babu. Satyendra Narayan Sinha contested his first election in 1952. He won the Lok Sabha elections a total of a total of six times, while his wife Kishori Sinha was with him in the 1980 and 1989 Lok Sabha elections. A.K. Gopalan and Sushila Gopalan
For the first time in the history of Indian Parliament, a couple from Kerala were elected MPs together. Freedom fighter A.K. Gopalan Nambiar, who was A.K.G. Known as the first leader of the opposition in Parliament. In the fourth Lok Sabha (1967–1971), A.K. Gopalan Nambiar and Sushila Gopalan won together and reached Parliament. Gopalan’s wife Sushila Gopalan was elected to the Lok Sabha for the first time from Chirayankhil (Kerala) in 1967. Sushila was a prominent Marxist and trade unionist. The pair of Dharmendra and Hema Malini also reached Parliament, but the two houses were different. Apart from these, Bollywood veteran actor Dharmendra Yadav and his wife Hema Malini have also been MPs together. But both of them had different houses. Dharmendra Yadav was elected MP from Bikaner Lok Sabha seat in Rajasthan in 2004. While the current MP from Mathura Hema Malini was nominated as Rajya Sabha MP in 2003.
