New Delhi, March 22 (IANS). According to the information provided by the central government on Saturday, 357 websites/URLs of illegal/non-non-non-contradiction offshore online money gaming institutions have been blocked and 700 such institutions are currently under investigation.
The Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) has intensified its enforcement action against offshore online gaming institutions. The online money gaming industry includes both domestic and foreign operators.
The Finance Ministry said in a statement, “It has been observed that these institutions are stealing GST by failing to register, hiding taxable payments and bypassing tax obligations. So far, DGGI has given the IT Act, IT Act, 357 of illegal/non-Anupalan’s Offsorption Offsor online money-making institutions in coordination with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) under Section 69 of 2000. The website/URL is blocked. “
About 700 offshore institutions involved in online money gaming, betting and gambling supply are under the investigation of DGGI.
Under the GST law, ‘online money gaming’, due to actionable claim, is classified as ‘goods’ supply and it levies 28 percent tax. Institutions working in this area are required to register under GST.
Recently, in a campaign against some illegal gaming platforms, DGGI along with I4C and National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) targeted and blocked the bank accounts being used to collect money from participants. About 2,000 bank accounts and Rs 4 crore were seized in this campaign.
The ministry informed that in a second action, 392 bank accounts related to the UPI ID found on the websites of some of these offshore institutions have been made debit and a total amount of Rs 122.05 crore has been temporarily seized in these accounts.
DGGI launched another campaign against some Indian citizens, running online money gaming platforms from outside India.
The ministry said, “DGGI has so far blocked the 166 mule account related to these platforms. So far three such people have been arrested and investigation is going on against such people.”
The ministry advised, “Many Bollywood celebrities and cricketers, YouTube, WhatsApp and Instagram influencers support these platforms. So the public is advised not to be cautious and do not join the offshore online money gaming platform, because it can endanger their money and weakens such activities which can weaken their money and support such activities which can weaken their money which can weaken their money and support such activities which can be endangered by their money.
