Shimla. Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvindra Singh Sukhu has instructed all the district administration to complete the mapping of drug network including the supplier of ‘Chitta’ and its addict at the panchayat level by 20 April. Expressing displeasure, he said that despite the instructions to complete the mapping by March 15 this year, no district has achieved the target yet.
Presiding over a high -level meeting, the Chief Minister directed all the Superintendents of Police (SP) to prepare detailed dosers with full seriousness on drug smugglers and consumers to the panchayat level. He said that he would review the progress again on April 20 and the officials who have given wrong reports would be held accountable. He also said that he would also conduct surprise inspections at the panchayat level.
Emphasizing the government’s commitment to eliminate drug abuse, Shri. Sukhu instructed all the superintendents of police to intensify efforts to eliminate the drug network and instructed to keep strict monitoring and continuous monitoring on the activities related to drugs. The Chief Minister further said that illegal assets earned by the drug mafia will be demolished and 259 properties have been identified for action.
Sukhu said that the state government has passed the Organized Crime Control Act and Himachal Pradesh Anti -Drugs Act during the budget session of the assembly, which should be effectively implemented. He also said that the government is considering setting up de -addiction centers in all the districts and for this the DC instructed to identify the vacant government buildings. The Chief Minister also directed to give priority to the resolution of public grievances and ensure timely disposal of cases.
He emphasized that the practice of delays should be stopped. Additionally, he encouraged officials at the block level to adopt government schools and make regular monthly visits. He asked the students to create a sense of nationalism to increase awareness about the ill effects of drug addiction and other social evils and to help the responsible citizens. In addition, he directed all DCs to review the implementation of government welfare schemes at the block level and submit the progress report.
Sukhu also reviewed the ‘widow and solo women’s housing scheme’ and ‘Maharishi Valmiki Kamgar Awas Yojana’. He instructed all DCs to accelerate the identity of eligible beneficiaries so that they could get benefits as soon as possible. Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Chief Minister’s Secretary Rakesh Kanwar, ADGP Abhishek Trivedi, Secretary Ashish Singhmar and Rajesh Sharma were present in the meeting, while DGP Dr. Atul Verma and all DC and SP Virchuly attended the meeting.
