Defense Minister Rajnath Singh flagged off three mountaineering campaigns on Thursday. Three of the campaigns include Indo-Nepal Mountaineering Campaign for Kanchanjanga, Indian Army mountaineering campaign for Everest and mountaineering of National Cadet Corps.

According to officials, the Ministry of Defense (MOD) has signed a tank for the purchase of the Nag Missile System (NAMIS) of the Anti-Tank weapon platform for the purchase of a tracked version for the Bakhtarband Vehicle Corporation Limited and about 5,000 light vehicles for the Armed Forces for Forces Motors Limited and Mahindra & Mahindra Limited on a cost of about Rs 2,500 crore.
According to the Defense PRO, the contracts were made in the presence of Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh in New Delhi on March 27, 2025 under the procurement (Indian-Swadeshiically design, developed and manufactured) category.
The total cost of the contract for purchase of NAMIS (TR) weapon system developed by DRDO’s defense research and development laboratory is Rs 1,801.34 crore. It is an important milestone in modernizing anti -tank capacity.
Namis (TR) is one of the most sophisticated anti-tank arms systems against enemy armor. It has an anti -tank missile and vision system to increase firepower and firepower. The weapon system is ready to change the operation of mechanized operations and provide operational benefits against the opponent.
Modern vehicles are designed according to contemporary vehicle technology, which has advanced engine power to accommodate a payload of 800 kg. They will provide mobility to the armed forces in all types of areas and operational conditions.
Both procurement will increase indigenization and national defense equipment manufacturing capabilities. Projects have immense possibilities of direct and indirect employment creation by encouraging the MSME sector through the construction of components. This purchase is an important step towards modernizing the country’s defense infrastructure and empowering indigenous industries, which is in line with the attitude of self -reliant India.
