Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the first response to this after the Waqf Amendment Bill was passed from Parliament. Prime Minister Modi said, “The Waqf system had become synonymous with transparency and lack of accountability for decades.” PM Modi has given this statement through X. Earlier, the Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi opposed this bill through X itself.
Prime Minister Modi said that the passage of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill and the Muslim Waqf (Relations) Bill from both houses of Parliament is an important moment in our collective efforts for socio-economic justice, transparency and inclusive development. Rajya Sabha passed last day
Earlier, on the last day i.e. April 3, the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Rajya Sabha i.e. Unified Waqf Management Empowerment Efficiency and Development (Aash) discussed a 13 -hour long discussion. After this, after 2:30 pm, the Upper House also approved it. Like the Lok Sabha, the Upper House also dismissed all the amendments of the opposition from the sound.

Earlier, the Lok Sabha passed the Waqf Amendment Bill by majority at around 1.56 pm on Wednesday, April 2. 288 votes were cast in favor of the bill, while 232 votes were cast. The bill was discussed in the Lok Sabha for more than 12 hours. The Bill will now go to the President for signature and will take the form of law as soon as the government is notified.
