After the passage of Waqf Amendment Bill from both houses, about 2,000 Waqf properties of Bareilly district have been in danger. The administration is preparing to remove illegal encroachments by measuring these properties. Investigation revealed that many of these assets are government, but the Waqf Board has recorded them in its records. Now the government will check these properties and decide which land will come under the purview of Waqf and which land will be declared government property.
Actually, a total of 3,385 Waqf properties are registered in Bareilly district. Of these, about 2,000 properties have been reported as government. Its total area is 330.518 hectares. The details of these properties are available in the Government Gazette and Register No. 1986. It is registered in 37. Of these, 700 properties are located in the municipal area. Many of these have also been constructed illegally. The special thing is that this list also includes many famous religious places, whose ownership has now been disputed.

The government had directed the Minorities Welfare Department to inspect Waqf properties in the district. After this, the department handed over this information to the Revenue Department. Revenue officials prepared a report by investigating area -wise. However, this report has not yet been made public. Investigation revealed that several government assets were registered in the records of the Waqf Board. Now the administration will identify valid and illegally registered properties by conducting a detailed investigation.

According to a report sent to the government, the number of government-owned Waqf properties in various talukas of Bareilly district varies. It was found that a maximum of 554 assets in Baheri taluka were government -owned. Faridpur Taluka has the lowest assets, 146, government. A total of 80,827 hectares of land in Sadar taluka is government. The district has 1,385 properties of actual Waqf properties, while revenue records of 1,290 properties are not available. Even the revenue department is unable to identify these properties.
