Yasin malik
Yasin Malik, head of the jailed Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), said in the Supreme Court of India on Friday (April 4) that he was a ‘political leader’, not ‘terrorist’ and claimed that seven Prime Ministers had interacted with him in the past. Yasin Malik, appearing before the bench of Justice Abhay S Oka and Ujjal Bhuiyan, Yasin Malik, cited the argument of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who represented the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), that he had pictures with terrorist Hafiz Saeed and was covered by all national and regional newspapers and television channels. Malik said, “The central government has not listed my organization as a terrorist organization under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). It is worth noting that in 1994 after a unilateral ceasefire, I was not only granted bail in 32 cases, but no case was carried forward.”

Yasik Malik said, “Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, HD Deve Gowda, Indra Kumar Gujral, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Dr. Manmohan Singh and even in the first five years of the tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, everyone followed the ceasefire. Now, suddenly, the current government has started hearing a 35 -year -old terrorist cases against me in its second tenure. Mehta argued that ceasefire has no importance in the current case. The bench said that she is not deciding on the merits of the case and only deciding whether she should be allowed to cross-examined with witnesses. In fact, the CBI had argued in the court, saying that Yasin Malik cannot be physically produced in Jammu court as he was a dreaded terrorist.
What is the whole matter?
Yasin Malik said, “The CBI has objected that I am a threat to security. I am answering it. I am not a terrorist, but only a political leader. Seven Prime Ministers have spoken to me. There is no FIR registered against me and my organization to support any terrorist or provide any place of any kind. While hearing the case, the apex court refused to allow physically appear in some cases against Yasin Malik in Jammu, but Malik asked Tihar Jail to persecute the witnesses. The order has come in a case in which the CBI has demanded the 1989 case of abduction of Rubaiya Saeed, daughter of former Union Minister Mufti Mohammad Saeed and hearing of the 1990 Srinagar firing case from Jammu to New Delhi. The CBI also challenged a lower September 2022 order of a lower court in Jammu, in which Malik, who was serving life imprisonment, was directed to be physically appearing for the prosecution witnesses in the kidnapping case.
