14.2 kg LPG cylinder price increased by Rs 50, effective from April 8

New Delhi, 7 April (IANS). Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced on Monday that the price of 14.2 kg LPG cylinders has been increased by Rs 50 per cylinder for both subsidized and non-subsidized consumers. This increase will be effective from 8 April.

This price increase will be applicable to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) as well as other consumers.

The Union Minister said, “The price for PMUY beneficiaries will increase from Rs 500 to Rs 550 per cylinder. For other consumers this price will increase from Rs 803 to Rs 853.”

He said that the amendment is subject to the review to be held at regular intervals, which takes place every two to three weeks.

On 1 April, oil marketing companies reduced the price of commercial LPG cylinders.

The price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has been cut by Rs 41. The revised retail sale price in the national capital Delhi is now Rs 1,762 per cylinder.

India imports about 60 percent of domestic consumption. The price of LPG in the country is connected to the international market.

According to the information presented in the recently concluded Parliament session, the number of beneficiaries receiving LPG with subsidized LPG under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) has increased to 10.33 crore till 1 March, while the total active domestic LPG consumers in India are 32.94 crore.

Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Suresh Gopi said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha that the average international price of LPG has increased by 63 per cent from US $ 385 per metric tonnes in July 2023 to US $ 629 per metric ton in February 2025, while the effective price of domestic LPG for PMUY consumers has reduced by Rs 903 in August 2023 to Rs. 503 in February 2025.

The retail sales price of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder was still Rs 803 in Delhi, while PMUY consumers used to get a subsidy of Rs 300 per cylinder. The price of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder remained unchanged since August 2024.
