New Delhi, The Customs Department has seized 3.3 kg of cocaine from a person taking major action at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in Delhi. The price of this cocaine is said to be Rs 46.44 crore. Cocaine was brought from Entbe (Uganda) to New Delhi via Sharjah. Its purpose is being said to be spreading a drug web in the national capital.
The arrested accused Indian citizen is 23 years old. In fact, after traveling from flight number G9-463, the youth reached New Delhi via Entbe (Uganda) via Sharjah. When the youth was trying to get out of the green channel at the airport, the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) officials found their activities unusual. On the basis of suspicion, he was immediately stopped by the authorities and scanned his bag. The X-ray investigation showed some suspects in his bag.
Taking the investigation more seriously, the young man was immediately taken to the preventable room, where his belongings were searched in the presence of two independent witnesses. During the search, six packets hidden in the sides of the bag were found, including white powder. Officials suspected that it could be a drug. Powder cocaine turned out to be done on investigation with the NDPS field test kit present in the office.
The total weight of the seized cocaine was 3.616 kg including polythene, while the net weight was 3.317 kg. The price of this cocaine in the international market is estimated at Rs 46.44 crore.
The passenger was immediately taken into custody and legal action was initiated under the NDPS Act and Customs Act. Investigation agencies are trying to find out on whose behest this consignment was being brought to India. Who are behind this?
However, the Customs Department described it as another successful operation, saying that they are committed to keeping the country’s air boundaries safe and free from drugs.
