New Delhi, 13 April (IANS). This is the right time to implement AI on a large scale in government and business in India. The country will not only participate in the Global Artificial Intelligence (AI) movement, but also wants to lead it. SH Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and IT, made this statement.
Talking to IANS on the occasion of the Global Technology Summit in the national capital, he said that this is the time to implement the AI in the government and business for India.
Krishnan told IANS, “We are making every effort to ensure that they should be updated with the latest technology and do not lag behind. India should be at the forefront of technology.”
Describing AI as the next big opportunity for India, the IT secretary compared its impact to the “Munt of Y2”, which changed the country’s IT region.
Krishnan emphasized that India is shaping the future of AI by promoting innovation, inclusion and global cooperation.
He further said, “Our focus is on computing, basic model, skill development and creating an AI ecosystem that is democratic and inclusive.”
Krishnan told IANS, “The objective of regulation should not be to disrupt opportunities. It should be aimed at enabling AI’s meaningful, safe and wide deployment.”
Referring to India’s Mars Orbiter Mission, he said that India is looking for success like “Mangalyaan” in AI.
He said that if AI is developed as India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), it can become a national resource with widespread impact in all areas.
Responding to a question on the role of the Civil Society and Think Tank, Krishnan said that the government is committed to the multi-non-non-non-non-non-non-non-observance approach in AI.
He said, “We want to make a place to be a part of the conversation for civil society, academics and others. In fact, sometimes I think we are spending more time to consult more than working.”
