Delhi Ev Policy: New EV policy will not be applicable in Delhi for three months, Rekha Gupta government considering these reasons, New Ev Policy will not be implemented in Delhi for three months

New Delhi. Delhi’s Rekha Gupta government has postponed the new EV policy for 3 months. Transport Minister Pankaj Singh informed the media about this decision held in the Delhi cabinet meeting. Earlier it was reported that the new EV policy in Delhi can be implemented from 15 August 2025. The Transport Department prepared a draft of Delhi’s new EV policy and before implementing it, the cabinet meeting headed by CM Rekha Gupta will have to pass. At present, the old vehicle policy will remain in force in Delhi. Transport Minister Pankaj Singh says that the new EV policy will not affect any auto or two -wheeler.

According to the information, the Delhi government is considering its provisions before approving the new EV policy. However, Delhi government minister Maninderjit Singh Sirsa had said that due to the implementation of the new EV policy, pollution in Delhi will be banned to a great extent. Nevertheless, the government does not want to implement it in a hurry. The reason for this is that it has a provision to completely close two -wheeler, auto and cargo CNG vehicles. There are 1 lakh autos in Delhi and due to sudden ban on their running, the owners of the vehicles may also have problems with the general public. Also, the EV policy for freight vehicles can also be affected on the supply chain. The special thing is also that vegetables come from neighboring states in the mandis of Delhi. Whose vehicles supplied are only from petrol, diesel or CNG.

The draft of Delhi’s new EV policy said that registration of all two -wheelers powered by petrol in the capital will be stopped. That is, only two -wheelers with battery will be approved in Delhi. However, the minister is saying that this will not happen. Apart from this, it is also in the draft of the new EV policy that people who already have four -wheelers operating with petrol or diesel, they will have to buy the third vehicle EV. Also, according to the new EV policy, registration and permit of CNG -powered auto rickshaws will also be closed. It will be necessary for their owners to convert their vehicles into EV. The converting CNG trains used as cargo is also in the draft of new policy.
