New Delhi, 20 April (IANS). Retail inflation rate has reached a six -year low of 3.34 percent in March. Along with this, there was a big fall in the prices of ginger, tomato, cauliflower, cumin and garlic.
According to the Finance Ministry data, ginger prices have declined by 38.11 percent on an annual basis, while the price of tomatoes has been 34.96 percent, cauliflower price 25.99 percent, cumin price 25.86 percent and garlic price has declined by 25.22 percent.
The products whose prices have increased in March 2025 topped the an annual increase of 56.81 percent with an annual increase. At the same time, the price of coconut has increased by 42.05 percent, gold price 34.09 percent, 31.57 percent in silver and 25.55 percent in the price of grapes.
Last month, the inflation in the health segment was 4.26 percent, which was 4.12 percent in February.
Housing inflation in urban areas has increased to 3.03 percent, which was 2.91 percent in February.
The inflation rate in transport and communication category has increased to 3.30 percent in March 2025 as compared to 2.93 percent in February.
The inflation in fuel and light categories increased from 1.33 percent to 1.48 percent in March, including both rural and urban areas.
Education -related inflation has increased by 3.98 percent in March, which was 3.83 percent in the earlier month.
Retail inflation has come down to 4.6 percent in the financial year 2024-25. This is the lowest figure of inflation after FY 2018-19.
Food inflation has come down to 2.69 percent in March 2025 and is the lowest level of food inflation after November 2021. During this period, the food inflation in rural areas was 2.82 percent, while the food inflation in the urban area was 2.48 percent.
