Hand-Qualiz Jewelery Export-Aayat is going to start from May 1 at Mumbai Airport. Ratna and Jewelry Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) gave this information on Thursday. It has been described as a major achievement for the country’s gems and jewelery trade. According to PTI news, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) formally gave the process a formal form on March 28 this year. The apex industry body said in a statement that it can be imported or exported through individual transport.
A mock drill was also organized
According to the news, a mock drill was also organized on April 24, 2025 in collaboration with India Diamond Bores, BVC, Pressure Cargo Customs Clearance Center (PCCC), Airport Customs and GJEPC, keeping in mind the hand-carriage jewelery export-ecstasy. GJEPC President Kirit Bhansali said that with the introduction of hand-carriage jewelery exports from Mumbai Airport on May 1, 2025, we are starting a new era for India’s gems and jewelery trade.
Emerging exporters will benefit
Bhansali said that this initiative not only simplifies logistics for our members – especially emerging exporters, but also strengthens the situation as India’s major global jewelery center. He said that we are committed to advocating innovative solutions that promote development and opportunity in our industry, especially MSMEs.
The GJEPC said that this initiative will benefit especially emerging exporters. This will facilitate them to carry jewelery personally in global markets. The GJEPC said that the industry body has already set up a dedicated airport office to assist the members in hand carry processes.
