Delhi traders have organized a bandh on Friday to protest against the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. Delhi’s head Sadar Bazar, Bhagirath Place, Gandhinagar, Naya Bazar, Khari Baoli, Chawdi Bazar, Chandni Chowk, Jama Masjid and Hauz Qazi are participating in more than 100 market union bandh. Due to this bandh of traders, more than 8 lakh shops in more than 900 markets of Delhi will not be traded and trade worth about Rs 1500 crore will be stalled. Different traders from areas like textile, spices, utensils and bullion also joined the bandh.

Delhi’s Sadar Bazaar looked deserted on Friday

A member of the Merchant Association said that Sadar Bazar, who is included in the most prominent markets of Delhi, was deserted on Friday, where there is usually a movement. Vegetable vendors did not even come to the market due to the bandh. A statement released by the market association stated that Asia’s largest wholesale readymade textile market in Gandhinagar remained completely closed. The statement said, “The purpose of the bandh is to demand justice for tourists killed in terrorist attack and demonstrate solidarity against terrorism.” On Thursday, the ‘Chamber of Trade and Industry’ (CTI) called for a shutdown. CTI also took out a candle march in Connaught Place to express solidarity with the victims of the attack.

Appeal for boycott of Pakistani products

On Tuesday, 26 people were killed in this terrorist attack in Pahalgam, most of whom were tourists and came to Kashmir to visit. CTI President Brijesh Goyal said on Friday, “This is not just a demonstration, it is a collective opposition against terrorism. We are all united in this fight and are organizing a bandh in memory of those who lost their lives in Pahalgam. ”Goyal appealed to the government to end all commercial relations with Pakistan and boycott Pakistani products in India. The attack in Pahalgam on Tuesday is the deadliest attack in the valley after the 2019 Pulwama attack.
