Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to the Chief Ministers on Friday and asked them to identify all Pakistani citizens present in their respective states. Amit Shah is talking to all the Chief Ministers on the issue and asking them to take steps to identify all Pakistani citizens in their respective states and to ensure their immediate return to Pakistan.
All types of visas have been decided to cancel with immediate effect. Shah has also asked the Chief Ministers to take steps to ensure people’s return to Pakistan soon.
Meanwhile, the Union Home Minister will also hold a meeting regarding the Indus Water Treaty at his residence. Apart from Home Minister and Union Water Minister CR Patil, other senior government officials will also attend this meeting.
Sources told ANI, “India has formally informed Pakistan about suspending the Indus Water Treaty.
Devashree Mukherjee, Secretary, Ministry of Water Power, has informed about this decision of the Government of India through a letter to Syed Ali Murtaza, Secretary, Water Resources of Pakistan. India has issued notice for change in the treaty. The letter said that the Government of India has given notice to the Pakistani government to amend the treaty.
The notice states that many basic aspects of the treaty have changed and require reconsideration of them. Various factors related to change in population, development of clean energy and water distribution, as mentioned in the treaty, have occurred. Any treaty should be well applied, but Pakistan is promoting cross-border terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
The letter said that India has sent a notice to the Government of Pakistan demanding amendment under Article XII (3) of the 1960 Indus Water Treaty.
The letter states, “The basic changes have been cited under the circumstances since the implementation of the treaty in these communications, which requires re -evaluation of obligations under various articles of the treaty and its attachments.”
It states, “These changes include significant changes in population demographics, need to accelerate clean energy development and other changes in beliefs related to water sharing under the treaty.”
The Government of India has taken important steps after the cowardly terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. The attack took place on April 22 after a terrorist attack on tourists at Basaron Maidan in Pahalgam, killing 25 Indians and one Nepali citizens, while several others were injured.
