India has got Russia’s support after the Pahalgam terror attack. Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Andre Rudenco met Indian Ambassador Vinay Kumar and confirmed Russia’s readiness to “combat the global terrorist threat”.
Russia’s Foreign Ministry said on X, “On April 28, Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudankco met the Ambassador of India. Russia’s readiness was confirmed to combat the global terrorist threat with India.”
According to an official statement, the authorities discussed the current bilateral issues and the program of upcoming political contacts as well as the general status of the South Asian region, including an increase in tension between New Delhi and Islamabad after the terrorist attack near Pahalgam in Kashmir.
The incident took place on April 22 after a terrorist attack targeting tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, killing 26 people, including a Nepali citizen.
The victims were killed near Basaron Medo, a popular tourist destination in the area. The attack is one of the most deadly attacks in the area after the 2019 Pulwama attack, in which 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed.
After the terrorist attack, India on Friday canceled the visas of all the categories issued to Pakistani citizens except for long -term visas, diplomatic and official visas with immediate effect from 27 April. However, medical visas issued to Pakistani citizens will remain valid till April 29.
Meanwhile, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan did a video conference with the Chief Secretaries of all the states and asked them to take necessary action in this regard. The latest decision taken by the Ministry of Home Affairs reflects a comprehensive policy change with the aim of strengthening border security and controlling the presence of Pakistani citizens within the country.
Following this decision, Union Home Minister Amit Shah discussed telephone with the Chief Ministers of all states and directed them to identify Pakistani citizens living in their respective areas and take immediate steps to take them immediately.
