Pakistan has announced the closure of the airspace of Karachi and parts of Lahore during the month of May, citing security. This decision has been taken amid growing tension between Pakistan and Islamabad.

The announcement by aviation officials has been made amidst the increased tension between Pakistan and Islamabad after the Pahalgam terror attack and the possibility of retaliation by New Delhi.

How long will it remain closed?

According to media reports, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued an official notice, stating that from May 1 to May 31, some parts of the flight information region of Karachi and Lahore will remain closed from 4:00 am to 8:00 am, according to local time.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said that the closure would not cause any significant obstruction in the operation of commercial flights, as the aircraft will be sent by alternative routes during the restricted hours.

Attari-Wagah border completely closed

At the same time, the Attari-Wagah border transit site between the two countries was completely closed on Thursday after the central government ordered all Pakistani citizens with short-term visas to leave India. It has been closed after heavy movement of people lasting a week to cross the border.

On Wednesday, a total of 125 Pakistani citizens moved from India to Pakistan through the Attari-Wagah border, causing the total number of Pakistanis who have left the country in the last seven days. On Wednesday, 15 Indian citizens with Pakistani visa also moved to Pakistan, causing the total number of such people to 23.

Similarly, 152 Indian citizens and 73 Pakistani citizens with long -term Indian visas have entered India by crossing the international border in Amritsar district of Punjab, causing the total number of such people to 1,617 and 224 respectively. The Center ordered Pakistani citizens to leave India after the assassination of 26 people (mostly tourists) by Pakistani militants in Pahalgam, Kashmir on 22 April. (input language)
