On Friday, on the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Amravati, the Congress targeted him and asked if he would fulfill the much awaited promise of giving special status to Andhra Pradesh.
This sarcasm of the opposition party has come before the program in Prime Minister Modi’s Amravati, where it is about to inaugurate and laying the foundation stone of Rs 58,000 crore, including re -construction of the Greenfield capital city.
Congress General Secretary (Communications in -charge) Jairam Ramesh asked that since he has started implementing the approach of the Congress’ justice letter with the announcement of caste census, will he also fulfill the much awaited promise of giving special category status for Andhra Pradesh.
Ramesh said, “He made the same promise in the holy city of Tirupati in March 2014.”
The Congress leader said in a post on X, “In addition, many other commitments made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act are still incomplete – including Kadappa Steel Plant, Duggirajupatnam Port, Kakinada Petro Complex and an agricultural university for the state.”
Ramesh said, “He has delayed these cases for ten years – will they eventually do anything in these cases?”
The central government on Wednesday announced that caste census would be part of the next census, which will include caste details for the first time after independence. The Congress has said that the pressure put on the government for caste census has worked.
