One of the many love stories that arose from the sand of Rajasthan is one who was as beautiful as it was. The love saga of Mahendra and Mumal is not just a folklore, but a mirror in which we can clearly see the sensitivity and delicateness of today’s relationship. But this story took a turn that was not only a heartbreaking, but also shows how a joke can sometimes destroy someone’s life.
When love was made for example
Mumal was an extremely beautiful, intelligent and mysterious princess of Jaisalmer, who lived in her palace in Garh Sear. He attracted many kings and warriors with his beauty and intelligence, but his heart won by Prince Mahendra of Marwar (today’s Jodhpur). Mahendra crossed camels, sand and hills every night and reach the palace of Mumal, only to meet him. Their love was so deep that both felt as they were incomplete without each other. This love was more spiritual than physical-as two souls have merged into each other.
A joke, a confusion and the whole world
One day, Mumal and his sisters thought a joke. She wanted to take Mahendra’s love test. Mumal’s sister pretended to wear Mumal’s clothes and lie on her bed. The plan was that Mahendra would come, will be confused, and then Mumal would come forward and tell the truth in his form. But luck was something else. That night, as soon as Mahendra reached the room, he saw another woman as a mumal and looked with someone else. He felt the cheating who ripped the heart. Mahendra, who was full of anger, sorrow and insult, left without saying anything. He neither heard Mumal, nor gave him a chance to clarify.
When the tragedy became a joke
When Mumal realized that her love left her in misunderstanding, she broke. He decided to jump into the fire to prove his love, to show that his love was true. When Mahendra returned after hearing this news, it was too late. But the heat of love was so strong that Mumal’s soul was calling him even in the fire. Mahendra also jumped into the same fire, and the love saga of both of them ended there.
Even today, this story teaches-even wonderful
The biggest learning of this tragedy is that relationships should never be joking with emotions. Even in today, ‘Prank Testing’ has become a common trend, social media trolls, ‘prank’ videos, and ‘prank testing’ in relationship. But do we know how dangerous it can be to play with someone’s heart?
Mahendra-Mumal’s story lesson for today’s couples
1. Not everything is a joke
Whatever one can find a joke, it can be a matter of self -esteem or feeling for another.
2. True relationships are tested not by joking, but confidence
If love is true, it should not have to be tested again and again.
3. Dialogue is necessary before misunderstanding
If Mahendra had talked to Mumal at that time, this love story could have reached a pleasant end.
4. Jokes sometimes gives permanent loss
Even in today’s relationships, a wrong text, a misunderstanding or joking words can give pain for years.
Why is this story relevant even today?
Mahendra-Mumal’s saga is as true today as it was centuries ago. Because love, trust and feelings do not change over time. Even today, when young couples joke or testing in relationships, they should remember this story. Once the false sentence, a joke, can take away the joy of life.
