Diabetes is a condition in which the body’s ability to make insulin or use is affected, leading to increased blood sugar level. In such a situation, experts recommend sugar patients to consume foods with low glycemic index. The glycemic index is a measurement, which explains how fast a food increases the sugar in your blood. Low glycemic index foods help to keep blood sugar balanced and provide immediate energy in the body. In such a situation, if diabetes patients include them regularly in their diet, then the sugar level will be reduced rapidly.

Include these low glycemic index foods in the diet:

Oats: Oats are full of fiber. Its glycemic index is up to 55. This can help prevent increase in blood sugar and insulin levels. In this case, consuming fiber -rich foods like oats can make it easier to keep blood sugar stable.

Millet and barley: People suffering from diabetes can consume millet and barley. Their glycemic index is between 45-52. Millet is an excellent source of fiber and contains many important nutrients. In such a situation, you should use them instead of wheat in your diet. This causes blood sugar to control rapidly.

Apple, pear and guava: Apples, pears and guava contain natural sugar but due to high fiber, GI of these fruits is less. Their glycemic index is between 30-40. A study shows that eating fruits like pear and apple reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes.

Green vegetables: Green vegetables such as spinach, fenugreek, tomato, okra calories and carbs are low, which are a great option to manage blood sugar levels. These vegetables are rich in fiber, which can help stabilize blood sugar by slowing the absorption of glucose.

That is, patients with diabetes give priority to fiber -rich food. Processed and flour -containing things completely avoid. Take protein and healthy fats with food – this makes GI even less. Eat 4-5 times a day in small parts.
