Manohar Lal Khattar was born on 5 May 1954 in a normal farmer family in Nidana village of Rohtak district of Haryana. He belongs to the Punjabi Khatri community, whose family had settled in Rohtak from Montgomery (now Sahiwal) district of Pakistan after the 1947 Indo-Pakistan partition. Khattar’s childhood was full of difficulties, but he made these conflicts the basis of his self -development. He started working in his family fields in his teenage age, which gave him the ground understanding of rural life. This experience later appeared in his administrative decisions.
Education and association with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh
Khattar received his early education in Rohtak and later received a bachelor’s degree from Delhi University. He joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) during his student life. In 1977, he dedicated his life as a full -time pracharak of the Sangh.
He developed a deep understanding of discipline, organization and ideology while working in various organizations of the Sangh for 14 years. During this time he played an important role in organization building and public relations in Haryana and its adjoining states.
Entry into politics
Khattar entered active politics after joining the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1994. Initially he was the organization minister of Haryana BJP.
