ANRF selected 7 projects to promote innovation in India's EV Ecosystem

New Delhi, 5 May (IANS). The Research National Research Foundation (ANRF) on Monday announced the selection of 7 e-nodes (high-impact projects) for cooperation under the Mission for Advancement of High-Empt Areas on Electric Vehicles (MAHA-EV).

The 7 e-nodes selected under MAHA-EV include Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, International Advanced Research Center for Powder Metalji and New Materials Hyderabad, National Institute of Technology Suratkal, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, Indian Institute of Technology, Indian Institute-BHU, CSIR-Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute and Indian Institute of Electronics Engineering Research, Pilani and Indian Technology.

The current program launched under the National Mission of ANRF aims to resolve important challenges in India’s electric vehicle ecosystem and promote innovation.

According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, three strategically defined technical vertical (TV) has been focused on the ANRF MAHA-EV proposal, which are Tropical EV Battery and Battery Sale (TV-I), Power Electronics, Machine and Drive (PEMD)-(TV-II) and EV Charging Infrastructure (TV-III).

It saw widespread enthusiasm among all stakeholders and 227 proposals were received in Consortia mode from educational institutions, R&D labs and industrial section.

According to the Ministry, two of the selected e-nodes will focus on EV battery and cell technologies (TV-I), work on three power electronics machines and drives (TV-II) and the remaining two e-nodes will focus on charging infrastructure.

The MAHA-EV Mission Next Generation will carry forward India’s leadership regarding the electric mobility solution.

Meanwhile, ANRF will also launch a ‘Small Business Deep Tech Innovation’ program inspired by Global Best Practice, which aims to support startups and MSMEs in increasing technology for real-world application.

The ANRF will also introduce the ‘Cloud of Research and Innovation Infrastructure’, with deep tech startups and institutions to access the reduced equipment across the country.

The Foundation’s ‘AI-for-Sense’ initiative is another major attraction, which uses AI to model Scientific Equality in Physics, Chemistry and Biology, which is a major achievement in saving time from the theory in the core scientific domain.
