Ranchi, 5 May (IANS). Tesla AS Company has shown interest in setting up a Giga (EV battery) project in Jharkhand and investing 150 million euros on it.
The company’s chairman Dusan Richards gave a presentation in this regard during the recent visit to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. He told the Chief Minister that the Giga project is being successfully operated by the company in Romania. Such a project can also be set up in Jharkhand.
This information was given by Industries Secretary of Jharkhand Arva Rajkamal at a press conference on Monday.
He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Soren, many proposals for foreign investment in the state have been received during the government delegation’s visit to Spain and Sweden. In different meetings with entrepreneurs and investors, CM Soren assured him that a dedicated desk for European companies would be set up to establish investment schemes in Jharkhand effectively and ease.
Industry Secretary Arva Rajkamal said that Spain’s world -renowned professional sports club Espell has proposed an MoU to train football coaches in Jharkhand for cooperation in sports development in Jharkhand. Apart from this, an investment of 120–170 million euros in Ranchi has received a mega conference and a letter of intent (letter of will expression) to develop a business exhibition center.
It was reported that the Jharkhand government delegation visited Europe’s largest FC Barcelona Stadium and Museum in Barcelona, Spain and held a meeting with Elena Fort, Vice President of FC Barcelona. The delegation also visited the D Gawa Museum, where an old mining site has been converted into a geological museum. Chief Minister Soren has also instructed the concerned department to convert such sites into Geological Museum and to attract tourists in Chaibasa, Jharkhand.
The Industry Secretary said that during the Investor Meet held in Barcelona, investors expressed interest in working under a great startup policy in Jharkhand. The government delegation visited the Volvo truck plant in Gothenburg. Chief Minister Soren invited Volvo to set up a mega manufacturing unit in view of the increasing demand of heavy trucks in mining works in Jharkhand.
The Secretary of Industries said that visibility is very important to invite investors of any country for investment in Jharkhand. In this context, the government delegation’s visit to Spain and Sweden was extremely encouraging. After a long gap of nearly 9 years, a government delegation from Jharkhand went on a foreign tour. This visit will record the presence of Jharkhand abroad and improve the brand value.
Industry Director Sushant Gaurav and Mining Commissioner Rahul Kumar Sinha were also present at the press conference.
