A heartbreaking incident has come to light in Jabalpur district, where a woman ate poison during public hearing in the SP office. The woman took this step when she did not get a satisfactory reply to her complaint before the SP. The incident stirred up the administration and police officers and the woman was immediately admitted to the hospital.
The incident took place with 30 -year -old Draupadi Vishwakarma, who lives in the foil locality of Suhagi in Adharti police station area of Jabalpur. Draupadi says that her husband Ramesh Vishwakarma had been harassing her mentally and physically for a long time. He and his children were expelled from the house, and Draupadi complained to the police station several times, but every time he was disappointed. This time he decided to put his point in public hearing in the SP office with great hope, but he did not get a satisfactory answer there either.
The woman alleged that her husband beaten up at home every day and was also financially harassed her. The victim said that since January, her husband did not help to run the house, and now he is threatening to marry a second marriage. Troubled by these husband’s threats and mental torture, Draupadi ate poison during public hearing.
After eating the poison of the woman, her condition started deteriorating and the policemen present on the spot immediately rushed her to the government hospital. According to doctors, the woman’s condition is now stable, and she is out of danger. After this incident, Naib Tehsildar Ranjhi Neelu Bangri reached the hospital and took care of the woman and assured the investigation in view of the seriousness of the case.
The woman also said that she had complained to the police two or three times before, but no concrete action was taken, which she was trying to commit suicide frustrated. The incident has raised the question that when the administration does not take immediate action in cases of violence and harassment against women, the victim can be forced to take dangerous steps like suicide.
After this incident, the administration, realizing the seriousness of the case, has started investigating it, and has promised to provide justice to the woman.
