S Jaishankar and Iran Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi
Foreign Minister S Jaishankar will hold a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Aragchi on Thursday amid the increasing tension between India and Pakistan. Aragachi will travel to India on 7 and 8 May to co-chair the meeting between India and Iran.
This first visit of Irani Foreign Minister
This is the first visit of Iranian Foreign Minister to India after taking over in August 2024. The talks between the two foreign ministers are also expected to discuss the increasing tension between India and Pakistan.

The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement, “The Joint Commission meeting, being held on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Indo-Iran Friendship Treaty, will review further methods to strengthen issues of mutual interest and bilateral relations between the two countries.”
