Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khwaja Asif has exposed the misinformation campaign being run in Pakistan after destroying nine terrorist sites in Operation Sindoor.
In an interview to CNN, Khwaja Asif linked his claim of killing five Indian fighter jets by Pakistan to the evidence available on social media.
When he was sought evidence of the claim that there were five Indian fighter aircraft, he replied, “All this is on social media, not on our social media, not on our social media. The debris of these aircraft fell in Kashmir. And today it is all in the Indian media and they have accepted it.”

When asked how the fighter aircraft were killed and which equipment was used in it, Khwaja Asif could not tell which aircraft was used by the Pakistani army.
Asked about the evidence of this claim, and whether Pakistan used Chinese equipment to kill Indian jet aircraft, “No, Chinese equipment. We have Chinese aircraft, JF-17 and JF-10. They are Chinese aircraft, but they are now being manufactured in Pakistan. In early April, Khwaja Asif said in a viral video clip that Pakistan is giving funds and assistance to terrorist groups. In response, Asif said, “We have been doing this dirty work for America for nearly three decades … and for the West including Britain … it was a mistake and we had to pay it and that’s why you are saying this to me. If we did not join the war against the Soviet Union and later in the post -9/11 war against the Soviet Union, Pakistan’s track record would have been impeccable.”
Asif’s statement reveals that Pakistan has been sheltering these terrorist groups for many years.
On Wednesday, the Indian armed forces attacked terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir under ‘Operation Sindoor’ in response to the Pahalgam terror attack on Wednesday morning. Wing commander Vyomika Singh said that a total of nine terrorist bases were targeted and destroyed successfully.
He said that the locations were selected in such a way that there was no harm to the citizens and their infrastructure. Pakistan acknowledged the attacks and its influence. However, Pakistan started claiming that they had killed five Indian fighter jets.
In view of this, the fact-tongue team of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) of India shared several posts on the X, in which he explained how Pakistani social media is sharing old and unrelated photos of crashed aircraft, claiming that he was a dropped Rafael.
One of the most prominent examples is a viral picture that has falsely claimed that the Pakistan Army killed an Indian Rafale Jet near Bahawalpur. However, this picture was rejected by the PIB Fact Czech, which confirmed that it actually had a MiG-21 crash in Moga, Punjab in 2021, which has no connection with the current events.
The wrong information in the form of a video revealed that falsely claimed that the Indian Army hoisted and surrendered the white flag on the Chora post. This fabricated story was exaggerated by Pakistan Minister Ataullah Tarar, who publicly supported the claim without any evidence. By giving official importance to an untouchable and clearly false story, Tarar not only misled his own citizens, but also actively contributed to the propaganda campaign.
