New Delhi, May 10 (IANS). Usually we thread yoga and pranayama in a fight. Meaning yoga is called pranayama, but there is a fine difference in them. It can be said that there are two sides of a coin.
In busy schedule, people sit quietly and focus on respiratory activity instead of stretching the body for more time and this is pranayama. The Sanskrit words are derived from “Prana” and “Dimensions”. Both words are of Sanskrit origin. Pran means respiration or breath, then the dimension means “control”. So this is why pranayama means regulation of breathing.
Yoga is a physical exercise that contains asanas associated with the order of the flow. The literal meaning of yoga is to connect or add. Yoga is usually with exercise of breathing. It concludes with relaxation, lying and meditation.
At the same time, Pranayama reflects the yoga practice of focusing on breathing. The basic meaning of pranayama is to raise life energy. It finds its place in major Hindu religious texts, including the Bhagavad Gita and Yogasutras of Patanjali. Pranayama also finds its place in Hatha Yoga texts.
Yoga is a type of exercise, which works to make the body flexible. Yoga is done before pranayama, so that pranayama can be done correctly. Patanjali’s Yogasutras say that yoga is effective in preventing or overcome diseases like asthma, while Pranayama helps in controlling heart rate and blood pressure.
Now talk about their benefits. If the body makes flexible from one, then the mind and brain are relaxed. There is no match of yoga in reducing excess fat, while pranayama also reduces phlegm disorder. Yoga takes care of the heart of the body. One thing that is equal in both is that both play an important role in strengthening the immunity system.
