The Delhi High Court has directed the Nursing Council of India to review and decide a representation seeking improvement in the Nurse Registration and Tracking System (NRTS) to increase its efficiency and effectiveness. Your decision should be taken through a formal order.
The instructions states that a certified copy of the order should be decided within six weeks from the date of submission of the Nursing Council of India. In addition, the decision should be formally informed to the petitioner.
According to an official statement, a petition filed by Advocate Robin Raju by the Indian Professional Nurses Association (IPNA) urged regular review of the assistance provided by the State Nurse Registration Councils (SN), which conducts NRTS.
The petition filed by the Indian Professional Nurses Association (IPNA) through Advocate Robin Raju requested a regular review of the assistance provided by the State Nurse Registration Councils (SNRC) in maintaining NRTS as per the 2019 circular.
The NRTS developed by the National Informatics Center by the Nursing Council of India was designed to streamlute the Indian nurse register. The purpose of this system was to standardize registration procedures, including base-based verification, mutual registration and high qualification registration, as well as enable online application to reduce the delay.
However, the petition argued that this system has not been able to fulfill its objectives. Currently, 1,276,762 nurses are enrolled, which is much less than the 2020 parliamentary figures, with more than 21 million registered nurses and midwives. Many nurses still do not have the National Unique Identification Number (NUID), which was constantly designed to provide incentives such as nursing education.
The petition also pointed attention to the absence of data about mutual registration and no objection certificates, indicating poor coordination between the Nursing Council of India and the State Nurse Registration Councils.
The petition stated that the NRTS portal has become a website providing only data and the declared purpose of making the process of registration and other subsidiary formalities easier by reducing the delay in the current process has weakened over time.
